Welcome to the 11th SALA Festival.
This two week festival is about showcasing South Australia’s visual artists; their talent, diversity and creativity. It is also an opportunity for you as audience to become involved.
The SALA Festival is when we celebrate the unique contribution our artists bring to the community and our identity. It is an occasion to venture out and discover just who are local artists are, view works that are beautiful, thought provoking and inspiring.
Getting started...
There are over 400 exhibitions, open studios, workshops, artist talks and screenings that you can choose from. Venture into the world of Moving Image at the Queens Theatre, or do something totally different by joining a night tour of projection art by cycle. You will find art on the street, encounter art that moves –whether on a screen, a building or simply you.
Why not head north? Port Augusta Cultural Centre is in the spotlight during 2008 and has produced a great showcase of regional artists. The region will come alive with art, workshops and day and night events. South Australian regions are overflowing with local art. Spend a day anywhere in the State, and you will encounter diverse and engaging works produced by local artists.
The Clare Valley will come alive with local art. Hundreds of schools children will launch their kites as part of the ‘Painting the Sky’ Project. Indulge yourself in art with more than 35 exhibitions and events to choose from. In the Barossa Valley galleries and wineries will once again bring local art and fine foods together along the SALA Festival degustation trail.
