Artist Statement Sean McGovern’s Sirens series combines 2D mixed media and clay to fuse myth with ecological tension. Inspired by algal blooms on the Fleurieu coast, the siren becomes a shifting, present force—observing judgement and reckoning. Textured layers reflect both beauty and toxicity in a fragile landscape. The work places Greek mythology within a timeless, chaotic world shaped by nature and human impact.
