Emiko Artemis is a South Australian based visual artist working across media. Emiko uses costumes and masking in her work to create immersive environments that question our place today’s fast paced world. She is interested in ideas of mysticism, story telling and ritual and often uses the natural world to create narrations of disorder and unease. Her work is informed by theories of phenomenology and exploring the liminal space of interior and exterior worlds is an ongoing motivation for her work. Emiko has post graduate studies in arts and theory and intersperses her visual arts practice with community arts work. Emiko has presented her work nationally and has participated in several seminars and interviews about her practice and research. Emiko is a proud and active member of both her disability arts and LGBTIQ communities.
