Artist Talk,
Exhibition
As an artist isn't it our duty to reflect the times in which we live?
By walking past, we inadvertently accept the social issues that surround us. These issues encompass global challenges such as political and environmental concerns, as well as domestic issues like families in crisis.
The term "families in crisis" serves as an umbrella for a multitude of other issues including mental health, violence, and homelessness. Some of these issues can be more difficult to confront than others. Often it is the vulnerable members of our communities who suffer the most, hidden in the shadows.
I firmly believe that we have reached a critical juncture where we must make the choice to stand up and advocate for those who have little to no voice. Through this exhibition, I aim to use art as a medium to paint vivid images and evoke emotions through colours and imagery that shed light on these pressing issues. My work will primarily utilize a combination of graphite, charcoal, watercolour, pastels, acrylics, and oils to convey the depth and complexity of these societal challenges.
