Cheryl Bridgart is the world’s ONLY Embroidery artist to be selected in NASA, SpaceX, Lunar Codex mission’s time capsule of contemporary art to the moon in 2025. This includes a 24-minute video of Cheryl working and many of her artworks. https://youtu.be/9ClIbOV6ZgI

In late 2024, Cheryl received a UNESCO Award for Excellence in Fine Art Embroidery, presented by South Australia’s Governor, the Honourable Frances Adamson AC. Her work is currently on display at the Art Gallery of South Australia as part of Radical Textiles (Nov 2024 – Mar 2025), and her Art in Adelaide videos have drawn over 13,000 viewers.

Now in her 17th consecutive solo SALA exhibition, Cheryl presents approximately 30 new embroidered works which are figurative, detailed, and rich with imagination, as well as couture-level wearable art and sketchbooks. Finalist in the SALA Awards and National Textile/Fibre Art Awards multiple times, her practice is uniquely labour-intensive: each image is freehanded with no guides, no automation, and no room for error. Just Cheryl, a sewing machine, and the unmarked canvas.

Visitors can also witness Cheryl at work during exhibition openings in one of Adelaide’s most historic venues.

Cheryl will be in attendance at all opening times.
