Sim+Co students go square for this year’s third SALA exhibition, embracing the creative challenge of a 30 x 30 cm format. Within this simple boundary, a wonderfully varied collection of works has emerged, each artist following their own ideas, curiosities, and visual stories.
Working predominantly in acrylic, alongside touches of watercolour and mixed media, these pieces celebrate exploration over perfection. The square format becomes a playful container, encouraging bold choices, unexpected compositions, and moments of quiet detail.
A featured student artist, Michelle Evans, takes centre stage with a series inspired by her love of beautiful shoes. Her works are vibrant, elegant, and full of personality, each piece capturing not just an object, but a feeling.
