Prize winning SAXMADE sculptural, geometric/functional furniture, this year focusing on physical books. These onetime essential building blocks of civilisation are rapidly becoming obsolete but have been in the news lately.
The venue is the Norwood workshop of SAXMADE New Australian Furniture. It is a friendly, funky, hands on, place ideal for showing the unique work of a retired, well known, architect/industrial designer,
The sculptural, unique and functional furniture is inspired by the emergence of Modern Architecture (Bauhaus etc), and interest in ergonomic, aeronautical and boat design. The work uses Tasmanian Oak veneered board to create furniture and lighting of unique, fascinating and serene geometric shapes and forms. The work resonates with an Australian design ethos and the material is beautiful and sustainable.
Saxon's work has taken advantage of the freedom allowed now he is no longer working as a professional..
