RIVER NIGHT WALK 2026
In August 2026, the City of Port Adelaide Enfield will bring the Port River waterfront to life with a free, family-friendly and interactive night‑time experience held in August as part of SALA Festival.

River Night Walk will feature Night Walkers, a major sculptural installation by Sydney creative studio Amigo & Amigo along Commercial Road and Black Diamond Square, and live performances of Shore Lines, by SALA Artists, Laura Wills and Louise Flaherty. The event will blend light, sound and fire to light the way to the river, supported by striking illuminated works and nightly fire elements.
The activation will be designed to encourage discovery, gathering and hands‑on community involvement, and offer an imaginative winter experience unique to the Port.

Amongst the wintery outdoor setting, the brilliant colony of frogs will share the warmly lit gathering space with fireside yarns, live music, site-specific artworks and torch-light discovery tours with cozy, local dining offering a range of food options.
The site will come to life with local artists, storytellers, makers and friends of the living shoreline.

FEATURING:

SHORE LINES
Presented by City of Port Adelaide Enfield SALA Artists, Laura Wills and Louise Flaherty with Violet Buckskin, we invite you to a live, nightly performance of Shore Lines, as artists trace the local ecosystem through drawing and light, sound, music and animation.

NIGHT WALKERS
In shamanic lore, frogs are revered as intermediaries between realms - amphibious walkers, bridging water and earth. Often hidden due to their diminutive size, these nocturnal creatures now emerge adorned in vibrant neon patterns, magnified by the artists to reveal their beauty.

Artist Statement – Amigo & Amigo (SYD)
Night Walkers supersizes these wondrous amphibians to highlight not just their beauty but also their ecological importance. These unique creatures – considered the 'walker' between the two worlds of water and earth in shamanic cultures - are considered bellwethers by environmentalists, as a decline in their population can signal serious environmental damage.
Each of these giant frogs represent an endangered species. They inspire the discovery of one’s inner melody, serving as guides to unearth the soul’s harmony.
