South Australian Living Homeless

Slatts, Hamish, Painting, 1200x900mm
Andrew Slattery
Sometimes it can be easy to ignore, avoid, or not notice homeless people on South Australian streets.
This can be due to reasons such as being intimidated, not knowing how to help or perhaps not actually being able to identify the homeless (due to them not ‘fitting’ the homeless stereotype).

This exhibition aims to show that there are many reasons and many people of varying ages that can find themselves homeless.
It aims to highlight that homelessness doesn’t discriminate. It can happen quickly and unexpectedly – to anyone.

Airbrush artist Andrew Slattery (Slatts) uses automotive metallic paint his portraits. The portraits are of real people in South Australia that have experienced homelessness. All proceeds from the paintings sold will be donated to provide accomodation and improved facilities at homeless crisis centres.
