Returning from her sold-out 2022 SALA exhibition at Swell Brewery in McLaren Vale, Rudduck is back to share her breathtaking gilded artworks on glass. Her intricate style and specialised techniques of painting on glass in reverse continue to push traditional verre églomisé in new directions, exploring new ground in a craft that was originally used for traditional shopfront signage.
“Synchro” is a celebration of motherhood, freedom, strength and purpose. Designed to uplift and unite, the round glass artworks can be seen as somewhat reminiscent of ancient Grecian plates with their strong borders, patterning and figurative repetition. Annie describes the work as a contemporary approach to folk-art and endeavours to share her personal universe in works she would proudly hang in her own home.
As Annie continues to refine her style she stays focused in her palette of predominately blues which beautifully complement the gold leaf. She uses enamel, intricate shell inlay, various karats of gold leaf and iridescent pigment in a precise way. All pieces have been framed in hand crafted Tasmania oak round frames.
The ‘encasing’ nature of her glass pieces is a highly original style that leaves her audiences equal parts captivated and perplexed. It must be seen to be believed!
