An exploration of landscape and flora, inspired by reality, then reimagined and abstracted. Using a variety of media including ink, charcoal, acrylic, oil and oil stick, these pieces maintain a familiarity while leaning into expressionist traditions, and occasionally abstraction. Colour and form give a sense of the location rather than a literal depiction. Representation and perspective often play a secondary role as the media dictate the structure of the work with large amounts of water being added during the painting process, lending an unpredictability and organic quality to the pieces which then informs the final work.
