Exhibition
Showcasing an artwork and a set of workwear of 23 diverse artists creating and/or living in the City of Adelaide in the last year. This exhibition, curated by Lucinda Penn, explores the relationship between the work artists produce and the clothes they wear to do so.

Some artists are easier to identify by their clothes than others. Some stand out with paint splatters or colourful choices, while others blend in as they walk around the world. Some clothes are for painting, some for thinking and others for expressing. What does an artist’s clothes say about them and their work?

This group is made up of artists Lucinda has met by attending and participating in creative events and exhibitions over the last 6 years. Inspiration has been taken from Charlie Porter's book 'What Artists Wear' (2021); a detailed examination of famous artists' clothes for work, home and play in the last century. Lucinda's conversations with the public when out painting murals and creative friends at exhibitions have also contributed to this concept. Viewers of the exhibition are encouraged to match up 'ArtWork' with 'Wear' spread out throughout the City Library!

Lucinda Penn is a finalist in the 2023 City of Adelaide Incubator Award with work in this exhibition.
