The Howling Owl is a cafe by day and gin den by night. Sharing a building with big sister, Urban Cow Studio and Gallery, The Howling Owl offers over 130 varieties of small batch gin, boutique SA wine, 50+ craft local brews and a range of locally sourced grazing plates. The Howling Owl is frequented by a range of clientele from inner city residents, public and private sector employees, university students, academics and administrators, a high number of tourists and groups of people attending events up in our mezzanine bar and balcony. Nestled between the Palace Nova East End Cinema and Exeter on Rundle Street, the business has a diverse range of age groups and cultural diversity. The Howling Owl has two areas for artists to exhibit including the ground floor bar open during all operation hours (80sq metres and 10 linear metres) The ground floor bar offers natural light via the glass windows and doors on two sides of the building. At night, lighting is more subdued with some bud lighting over ornamental ladders and candles on benches, booths and tables. The second area for the artists to exhibit is up the stairwell and into the mezzanine bar used on some week nights and most Fri / Sat nights for events. The mezzanine bar is approx 22 linear metres and 40 square metres. This bar has a door way that can open up through to Urban Cow Studio Gallery that hosts exhibitions all year round.
