SALA Festival runs throughout the month of August annually, so 1—31 August every year.

SALA is an open access festival meaning that all artists and venues are welcome to participate. To be included in the program all you need to do is register an exhibition or visual arts event (such as an artist talk, workshop, or forum) via our online form, 2 March — 11 May 2020.

If you are an artist looking for a venue consider creating an Artist profile on SALA's Artist & Venue Finder. Your details will be added to our 'Available Artists' list for venues to browse. Artists can also browse the 'Available Venues' list and contact venues directly to discuss partnering on a SALA exhibition together.

These lists are not exhaustive and you are certainly welcome to exhibit with a venue not included in the Artist & Venue Finder.

2020 SALA registration fees:

Solo artist: $125.00
2—10 artists: $230.00
11 — 20 artists: $325.00
20+ artists: $415.00
SALA Street (multiple venues in the one street, venue names will not be listed individually however multiple stickers will be provided): $450.00
Education (Kindergarten, Primary or Secondary school ONLY): $65.00 subsidised by Credit Union SA 
Open studio: $125.00
Special event (workshop, forum, presentation etc): $125.00


Premium Registration (includes guaranteed image in print program and 75 word exhibition description) — $470.00

Additional Activities

Thanks to these councils you can get a rebate on registration fees. The councils participating in 2020 are:

- Adelaide City Council
- City of Marion
- City of Unley
- City of Holdfast Bay

For your registration fee you will have your event listed in the SALA Festival program! We print 250,000 + copies of our program which are distributed in The Advertiser and across the state, exposing your art to a wide audience.

But that’s not all, SALA Festival is supported by marketing, PR and social media campaigns which aim generate TV, radio, print and digital media coverage, promoting the Festival as a whole.

Most importantly you will receive a pack of promotional materials including programs, posters and the coveted SALA Venue sticker. Not to mention the opportunity to attend exclusive events such as the SALA Opening Night at the Art Gallery of South Australia!

Once you’ve registered your exhibition on our website you can pay instantly via a Stripe payment gateway. Alternatively you can pay via EFT, cheque or cash.

IMPORTANT — please write your 5 digit registration code in the reference field when making a bank transfer or on the back of your cheque.

As many as you like! There are no restrictions on how many venues an artist can exhibit in, however each new venue will require its own registration form. 

Yes! It is the responsibility of the artist and the venue to make sure there is public liability insurance for the installation of the exhibition, the exhibition period, and for de-installation. SALA does not cover your insurance for your venue. You may also want consider insurance for the artwork itself. 

The cost of insurance varies so conact SALA partner City Rural Insurance Brokers for quotes and enquiries via or call 8272 7785. Tell them we sent you too!  

All SALA awards are self-nominated, so hop to it!

To be considered for an award make sure you fill out an entry form before close of nominations. Most awards close on 20 May but check the SALA Awards page for individual award closing dates.

Each award has different eligability criteria so dont forget to check the terms and conditions.

Don't worry you haven't missed it, we haven't sent it out yet!

We courier out each promotional materials pack to your nominated address after the SALA program is featured in The Advertiser. Your pack may take up to a week to get to you becuase we are delivering them all over the state! If you think that you have missed out get in contact with us via as soon as possible. 

From early July you can get a copy of the SALA Festival Program in Information, Visitor and Civic Centres, libraries and from SALA Venues across South Australia. 


You can book your place in a SALA Tour by clicking on the 'Book Tickets' button on any of the tours listed under the Tours tab. This link will take you through to the event booking system Eventbrite. Eventbrite links are also on listed on individual tour listings in the SALA online program and Facebook page. 

If a tour you are interested  in is fully booked please email the SALA office via to be put on a waitlist.
