Adelaide Festival Centre Artist in Residence – Submitting a Proposal
In asssociation with SALA Festival, the Adelaide Festival Centre is inviting proposals for participation in an Artist-in-Residence program in 2017 from South Australian artists or groups of artists for up to six months.
Proposals must include an outcome of new works inspired by the Adelaide Festival Centre, its architecture, environment or programs and is suitable for display at the Festival Centre during the SALA Festival in August 2017.
Proposals need to include the following
1. An up-to-date CV for each participant
2. A selection of images of previous work with detailed information.
3. An outline of your intended residency project (media, concept, possible activities, potential outcomes)
4. The intended timeframe and;
5. An indication of your needs for residency space and preferred display area
Successful participants will receive a space to work, access to Adelaide Festival Centre backstage areas, the Works of Art Collection and the Performing Arts Collection.
Residencies are considered according to proposal strength, relationship to the Festival Centre programming or infrastructure and availability of space.
Creative use of space for the display outcome will be an advantage.
The impending major redevelopment of the Adelaide Festival Centre and Plaza provides an opportunity for artists to respond to the site while the development takes place.
Once complete, the Adelaide Festival Centre will integrate seamlessly with Festival Plaza to become a lively, activated space, surrounded by hospitality and tourism.
Internally, the upgrades to lighting, sound and staging equipment will ensure that the technical capabilities of the Festival Theatre will be at national standards. New food and beverage spaces and improved facilities will enhance the entertainment experience.

Artist Fee – selected individual artists or artist teams will be paid a total fee of $2,000 (ex GST). $1,000 will be paid upon signing the MOI to assist artists with materials and expenses with the final payment of $1,000 being issued on completion of the project.

Project/ Create an optical illusion work known as ‘anamorphosis’ on the outdoor stairs outside the Festival Theatre entrance. Drawing in an audience to participate and engaging with regular Festival Centre goers.

Submitting a Proposal to the DreamBIG Residency Program
In Association with SALA Festival, the DreamBIG Festival is inviting proposals for participation in an Artist-in-Residence program in 2017 from South Australian artists or groups of artists for up to four months.
Proposals must include an outcome of new works inspired by the DreamBIG Children’s Festival and is suitable for display and/or interaction at the Festival Centre during the DreamBIG Festival, 18-27 May 2017 and SALA Festival in August 2017.
Please note: if you are proposing a time relevant event/project it needs to be conducted between 10am – 3pm each day for 9 days (18-21& 23-27 May).
Proposals need to include the following

DreamBIG Children’s Festival (formerly Come Out Children’s Festival) is proudly presented and managed by Adelaide Festival Centre
More than 2 million South Australian children have participated in the DreamBIG Children’s Festival since its inception in 1974 (as Come Out Children’s Festival) and it is an intrinsic part of growing up in South Australia.
In 2015, Adelaide Festival Centre produced the Come Out Children’s Festival for the first time. We have embraced the responsibility that comes with putting on an event that holds such an important place in the hearts and souls of South Australians of every age.
DreamBIG Children’s Festival is divided into two program streams – the schools program where children participate in events and performances through their school, and the general public program for families. In 2015, over 100,000 children and their families participated in the Festival which included performances in Port Lincoln, Port Pirie, Whyalla, the Barossa, Roxby Downs, Renmark, Lameroo, Streaky Bay, Kersbrook and Victor Harbor. 25,000 children and their families attended the Big Family Weekend – a plethora of free arts activities at the Festival Centre, Elder Park and throughout Adelaide.
