multiple events

  • If you are participating in multiple arts events across multiple venues/locations, they will need to be registered separately.
  • If you are running related events within a single venue (for example, you might schedule an artist talk to accompany your exhibition), these may be added as ‘additional activities’ within your registration form at no extra cost.

FAQ

The SALA Festival Registration Fee is payable per registered event (not per artist).

This goes towards the cost of collating, designing, printing, and publishing the Official SALA Festival Program in print and online, which will feature your event. The printed booklet is produced within a very tight timeframe, and is distributed statewide.

The registration fee also goes towards the cost of marketing & publicity, which includes a publicist contracted to promote the events of the Festival individually as well as broadly.

SALA Festival is a not-for-profit organisation and our surprisingly small team does a whole lot of unseen work to elevate those participating in the Festival.

Please note that the SALA Festival Registration Fee is not associated with venue-related costs (such as venue hire).

It does not matter who pays the Registration Fee – it may be paid by the artist/s, venue, organiser, community group, sponsor, or by another party (or any combination of these).

Please note that only one registration form should be submitted per event and there is only one fee per event

Please note that the SALA Festival Registration Fee is unrelated to any

No. The only way to be an official participant in SALA Festival is to register an event.
This can be an exhibition, open studio, workshop, artist talk, panel, performace, demonstration, online exhibition, etc.

It is not possible to be a ‘SALA artist’ unless an event registration has been submitted.

Earlybird pricing applies to complete* registrations submitted between 1 March – midnight 8 April 2026.

*print-ready, not with ‘pending’ in any of the fields.

The Official SALA Festival Program is produced in an incredibly tight timeframe and the majority of submissions come through at the last minute, so it makes sense to reward those who are able to submit earlier.

Council Rebates

Each year, many local councils support participation in the SALA Festival by offering a rebate on the SALA Registration Fee. This scheme acknowledges the role that artists and local venues play in the cultural life of the council area. Some rebates are only applicable to events taking place within Council boundaries, whereas others are available to residents of the council area even if their SALA event takes place elsewhere.

Conditions like eligibility, how to apply, and the subsidy amount vary from council to council, so it is important to read the details by clicking on the relevant council name below. Some rebates are only applicable to events taking place within Council boundaries, whereas others may be available to residents of the council area (even if their SALA event takes place elsewhere).

City of Adelaide in partnership with the SALA Festival is again offering artists an artist fee subsidy in 2026. This scheme acknowledges the role that artists and local venues play in the cultural life of the council area. Subsidies of $145 are available to assist individuals and groups with the cost of registering for the SALA Festival.

Subsidies will be provided to artists residing in and/or artists exhibiting within the City of Adelaide area (and may or may not be residents of the City).

Subsidies will only be provided for costs associated with registrations for SALA. Exact allocation of subsidies will be dependent upon the number of applications received.

Artists must:

  • Register for SALA via the online form by midnight 6 May, 2026
  • Pay the relevant fee to SALA
  • Submit the form and attach a copy of the e-receipt received after payment.

Multiple applications may be considered. The closing date for applications is 13 May, 2026.

Applications will be dated in order of receipt.

City of Adelaide is proud to support the SALA Festival and acknowledges that the Festival fosters creativity, cultural and artistic events and activities.

Artists receiving subsidies will be requested to display the City of Adelaide logo on any printed material acknowledging the support.
