FAQ

The SALA Festival Registration Fee is payable per registered event (not per artist).

This goes towards the cost of collating, designing, printing, and publishing the Official SALA Festival Program in print and online, which will feature your event. The printed booklet is produced within a very tight timeframe, and is distributed statewide.

The registration fee also goes towards the cost of marketing & publicity, which includes a publicist contracted to promote the events of the Festival individually as well as broadly.

SALA Festival is a not-for-profit organisation and our surprisingly small team does a whole lot of unseen work to elevate those participating in the Festival.

Please note that the SALA Festival Registration Fee is not associated with venue-related costs (such as venue hire).

It does not matter who pays the Registration Fee – it may be paid by the artist/s, venue, organiser, community group, sponsor, or by another party (or any combination of these).

Please note that only one registration form should be submitted per event and there is only one fee per event

(Unlike other festivals, SALA does not require separate registrations from artists and venues – SALA is only concerned with the registration of events.)

Please note that the SALA Festival Registration Fee is unrelated to any venue-specific costs (such as venue hire). Venues that take part in the festival range from dedicated art spaces, like galleries, to all kinds of unconventional spaces. Therefore, there is no one-size-fits all advice or pricing for the use of a space. If you are unsure about this, please contact the SALA office for further context.

No. The only way to be an official participant in SALA Festival is to register an event.
This can be an exhibition, open studio, workshop, artist talk, panel, performance, demonstration, online exhibition, etc.

It is not possible to be a ‘SALA artist’ unless an event registration has been submitted.

Earlybird pricing applies to complete* registrations submitted between 1 March – midnight 8 April 2026.

*print-ready, not with ‘pending’ in any of the fields.

The Official SALA Festival Program is produced in an incredibly tight timeframe and the majority of submissions come through at the last minute, so it makes sense to reward those who are able to submit earlier.
