This exhibition is inspired by the artist's late father, Meroojan, and his love for the sea.

My father Meroojan (also known as Jacob or Yaghoob) was born in Abadan/Iran in an Armenian family.
Together with his 2 brothers and sister, he was born in Abadan, to parents Gayane (M) and Avedis (F) whom survived the Armenian Genocide in 1915 and were settled in Iran.

My father had obsession with sea, boats and anything related. He was a great businessman with big dreams for us all.

Soon after high school he become a navy recruit and later on worked in the islands off the Persian Gulf. He was in charge of the cargo shipping from European countries in the ports of the Southern Iran, including; Khoramshahr, Shahpour, Lavan. As his final post he became a manager in the Khark Island.

His early death at the age of 47 in a car crash after was an unimaginable tragedy for our young family, as well as his own (because they grew up having no extended family after loosing everyone in the Genocide). His big dreams crashed unfortunately but he remained in mine for ever !!
