Artist Statement Sara Boni is a South Australian artist and an art teacher of 35 years. Her 2024 series of oil portrait paintings are based on living South Australians ranging from 3 to over 100 years of age. Drawing upon their character, her compositions resemble collages and tell the unique story of each of her subjects.
Sara has changed her focus away from her introspective ceramic sculptures of 2023 to an outward recognition, appreciation and celebration of others. She hopes to inject positivity and acceptance into society. It’s about honouring the person, their accomplishments, hopes, dreams and aspirations.
Sara plans to complete at least 10 portraits for SALA 2024 and is looking for a venue for a solo exhibition.
