Artist Statement I’ve always sought to understand what makes me Chinese. When I paint portraits of Chinese people, I feel as if they are pulling me in. They become the looking glass into my roots. As a migrant Malaysian Chinese living in Australia, I invite the western world to move into a different place of appreciation of the Chinese culture through my work, and to walk with me as I give Chinese imagery a fresh complexion and delve into the richness and complexities of my subject matter.
