I am a media artist working with digital tools and the languages of art and science - I have a particular interest in ideas of landscape, geomorphology and the environment, including the human influence on the planet. While often I work with satellite imaging, to explore large spatial scales and temporalities, in the work I'd like to show in SALA, I use 3D drone scanning to produce stunning images of the opal mine diggings in Andamooka in South Australia. These are incredibly tortured environments, just holes and mounds of dirt, and roads between the mines. But by showing them as point clouds, we can kind of "X-ray" them, and their remarkable beauty is able to emerge, as well as their dimensionality above and below ground level. The result of this enquiry is an exhibition that brings a completely new way of looking at landscape.
