Each year, the SALA Festival is accompanied by a selection of guided tours. What better way to explore the festival than with the guidance of a hand-picked local artist!

2023 Guided walking tours

Our artist-led walking tours are a staple part of the festival. 

Street Art Walking Tour

Saturday 19 August at 1pm | Saturday 26 August at 11am |  Saturday 26 August at 11pm

Join artist Leah Grant to explore the walls of Adelaide, and the work of South Australian street artists. 

Local & Contemporary Art TOUR

Saturday 19 August, 11am

Join artist and educator Dr Melanie Cooper for a tour of independent spaces that nurture and support local artists. If local galleries and the artworld seem a bit of a mystery, this tour will introduce you to the rich diversity of practices that come under the enormous umbrella of Contemporary Art.

Dog-Friendly Art tour

Sunday 20 August, 2pm 

You and your canine friend are invited to join dynamic duo Zelda the Weimaraner and her human minder Jenna Pippett for a Dog-Friendly Art Tour, meandering through the city.

First Nations Art Tour

Saturday 26 August, 1pm

Join artist Tikari Rigney on a tour of SALA exhibitions taking place in Tarntanya (Adelaide) featuring diverse work from First Nations artists.

Art Tour in Mandarin

Saturday 12 August, 2pm

Join artist Shirley Wu to explore contemporary art in the West End. Presented in Mandarin, Shirley is also able to answer questions in Cantonese.

Guided Bus tours

There are limited places on these guided tours, offering a behind-the-scenes look where it all happens: artist studios. You’ll hear from some of the artists and gain insight to the inner workings of these creative spaces.
