Each year SALA puts on a range of tours lead by expert artist tour guides to provide an entrypoint to the SALA Program.  The below tours all take place in the City of Adelaide

Understanding Contemporary Art

Sometimes you just need someone to explain the significance of an artwork in layman’s terms, and artist Dr Melanie Cooper is the perfect person to hear it from. This tour is for anyone who’s ever thought “my kid could have done that” when looking at art.

Street Art Walking Tour

Saturday 27 August, 1-3pm (walking)

Street Art Scooter Tour

Sunday 28 August, 1-3pm (scooter)

Join artist Leah Grant on this tour of street art by South Australian artists in Adelaide. This tour is by scooter – provided free of charge from Beam.

First Nations Art Tour

Join artist Thomas Readett on a tour of SALA exhibitions taking place in Tartnanya (Adelaide) featuring diverse work by First Nations artists.

Art Tour in Farsi

Friday 19 August, 10:30am-12pm

Join artist Elyas Alavi on this walking tour of exhibitions in Adelaide. Run in collaboration with ARTA, this tour is presented in Farsi.

Art Tour in Mandarin

Monday 15 August, 10am

Join artist Jingwei Bu on this walking tour of exhibitions in Adelaide. Presented in Mandarin, this tour is sure to stop by Nexus Arts where Jingwei is exhibiting.

Self-guided walking tour

Centennial Park invites you to wander the peaceful grounds and engage with the beauty of nature while viewing a special selection of SALA sculptures as well as the permanent collection. The tranquil gardens provide a chance to slow down, reflect, and enjoy nature and art at its best. Download the map or grab one from the Administration building, and don’t forget that you can warm up with a coffee from Wildflowers Cafe.

Regional Self-Guided Tours

For the first time, we have released a range of self-guided tours! Check them out and adapt them as you please. We recommend downloading the Google Maps app to your smartphone, nominating a driver (and someone to control the music) and heading off on a daytrip to see some art!
